Our Students

Supporting students of sacred knowledge as they prepare to serve their communities.

Sayid Sandoval
Colombia • Cairo, Egypt

Our dear brother Sayid Sandoval is a Colombian student of Islamic law based in Cairo. He completed his undergraduate studies in Islamic Sharīʿah at Al-Azhar University’s Faculty of Sharīʿah and Law in 2025. He is now pursuing postgraduate studies in General Fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence) at Al-Azhar.

Alongside his postgraduate studies, Sayid has undertaken advanced training with Egypt’s Dar al-Ifta, specializing in iftāʾ—the application of Islamic law to contemporary circumstances.

Jusur supports Sayid’s education as he prepares, in shāʾ Allāh, to serve Muslim communities in Colombia and throughout the Spanish-speaking world.

Fatima Shawqi
Cairo, Egypt

Fatima Shawqi is an Egyptian graduate student pursuing a Master’s degree at Qena University. Her academic work focuses on the use of Qur’anic texts to address linguistic challenges faced by non-native speakers of Arabic. She plans to continue her studies at the doctoral level.

Fatima is married to Sayid Sandoval, a fellow Jusur student, and together they are raising two young children while continuing their respective paths of study.

Through Jusur, Fatima receives support that helps her continue her education while balancing the responsibilities of family life and preparing for a life of scholarship and service, in shāʾ Allāh.
